Growing Instructions & Tips: |
| This is the only native North American cycad. When mature it's erect leaves may reach five feet in length with 5 - 12 leaves emerging from it's crown. It develops a short, upright trunk of only 5" while more of the trunk remains underground. When full grown each leaf has 20 to 80 shiny,thin leathery leaflets which are 3/4" wide and 5" in length handsomely crowded. A beautiful small cycad. Prefers constant warmth, high humidity and filtered sunlight. We are shipping small plants with 2 or 3 upright leaves with a base that is 1" wide or larger. Not for export. |
Germination for: CYCAD - ZAMIA floridana "Florida Coontie"
Plant as soon as received. Using well draining soil mixture plant with 1/2 of its base in the soil. Requires constant warmth, high humidity and filtered sunlight- no strong sun. Do not keep wet.
