So that we can answer your questions faster we
have create this selection of responses to our most commonly asked questions. There is a very good chance you will find the
answer to your question here. Please take the time to read these first before calling or emailing support.

Q. FOREIGN ORDERS:
A. We ship foreign orders every day. You must contact your Agricultural Office and determine if we are required to send a Phytosanitary certificate with your order. If it is required, we must have your items inspected by the U. S. Department of Agriculture and upon their approval we will be issued the certificate There is a fee of $23 that we must pay for the inspection so that of course would be added to your cost. Every country is different in their policies in regard to restrictions. Usually the need for a Phytosanitary certificate pertains only to plants and bulbs, but there are many exceptions. You must advise us if the Phytosanitary certificate is required. If we send the order without the certificate it is possible that your order will be opened and the contents destroyed. We are not responsible if you have not advised us. You can send a brief message to us in the COMMENT SECTION of the ORDER PAGE. Also note that some countries require that you obtain an import permit from your Agriculture department

Q. SEEDS PER PACKET
A. There are generally 8 seeds per packet but since there are over 1,000 items listed there are many exceptions. Whenever there are very few seeds in a packet the actual amount is indicated. An example is Synsepalum dulcificum - It is a very perishable seed that will germinate quite rapidly and there is only one seed in the packet. Another example in the PALM SECTION is Orbignia - a very large seed with one in a packet. Contrary to these examples is the seed of LITHOPS which are extremely small. You should also note that the second column that you see is for 100 seeds, not 100 packets.

Q. THE ORDERING PAGE
A. It is imperative that all of the blank spaces are used. If you are in a region - or in a country that does not have a zip code you simply type into the space a repeating letter such as xxxx, or jjjj. This can be done with any of the spaces that are blank. IF you are reluctant to send your charge card number via the internet you may mail your order to us - always make a copy of your order. SHIPPING POLICY Most orders are sent within 10 business days. There are exceptions that occur. Since our farms are in Ecuador and Central America there are sometimes delays when a particular seed or rhizome is temporarily sold out or the item may be enroute to us from our our farms. The HELICONIA and BANANA RHIZOMES usually arrive here via air cargo every 10 - 14 days. YOUR ORDER IS NOT CHARGED until we have packed it and it is ready to send. That meas you can determine the ship date by going online to your credit card and can view the date being sent. CONFIRMATION OF YOUR ORDER As soon as an order is received you are instantly sent a confirmation and an order number which you should use as a reference. At times a customer does not receive a confirmation because there are now many ways that the message can be interrupted or blocked. It could be stopped due to the fact that you gave an incorrect email address, or that you have a blocker installed ( sometimes without your knowledge )hat declines our confirmation because it is thought to be a junk mail message. Whatever the case it is not something that we can control. At least realize that if you receive an order number from us that will mean that we have indeed received the order.

Q. OUR MAILING ADDRESS:
A. Banana Tree, Inc. 715 Northampton St Easton, Pa 18042 USA

Q. GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
A. Growing and/or germinating instructions are sent with all items.

Q. SOIL REQUIREMENTS
A. Generally we provide items that should be grown in well draining types of soil. One of the most common growing problems is failure due to the use of standard potting soil. We have never used "standard potting soil". It is usually very dark-black soil that has been cooked (sterilized) at 180 degrees and has no components with value. We refer to it as dead soil since it is so dense that it is similar to clay in its ability to retain water when wet and disallow oxygen to flow through it. We would hope that you would use soil MIXES - Soil that has a MIXTURE of different components such as sand, some peat, perlite, or any components that create a soil that is more airy. Please consider switching to SOIL MIXES if you have been using standard potting soil.

Q. WHAT IS MY ORDER NUMBER?
A. When you check out of your shopping cart and submit your order your order number is displayed as the final step in the order process, also we email you an order confirmation.

Q. SHIPPING COSTS
A. The weight of some seeds may be quite heavy and will affect the mailing cost. Sometimes the weights of the rhizomes of the Gingers, Heliconia, Musella and banana can exceed 1 lb. That will cause the shiping rate to be obviously higher than listed. Also keep in mind that requests for orders to be sent via FEDEX or an other expedient service are much higher and we charge whatever the rate happens to be. We do not attempt to profit from shipping charges.

The time involved to read and respond to email is time that should be used toward processing orders. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER VIA EMAIL. If you are reluctant to submit an order online because you think there is a charge card risk you can print off your order and mail it. ( Always make a copy ). Our address: BANANA TREE, INC. 715 NORTHAMPTON ST EASTON, PA 18042 USA

Q. WHEN SEEDS ARE RECEIVED
A. Please plant seeds when they are received. Nearly all that we offer are fresh tropical seeds that will loose viability quickly if not planted soon. They should not be held on a shelf until you have the time. Often fresh seeds will exude a small amount of moisture when they are in the packet that you receive. This can cause a small amount of mold to appear - it is normal due to the freshness of the seed and you should then wash the seeds in soap and water.
